Terms of Service
Last updated: June 24, 2026
These Terms are an agreement between you and Desmond de Moussac, the individual operating Dearlie (“Dearlie,” “we,” “us”). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. Please read them, along with our Privacy Policy.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use Dearlie, and able to form a binding contract. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you confirm you have permission from a parent or guardian.
2. The service
Dearlie lets two paired partners send each other short handwritten or written notes that are delivered as a push notification and shown on home-screen and lock-screen widgets, and kept in a shared archive called the Jar. We may add, change, or remove features over time.
3. Your account and pairing
You sign in with Apple or Google. You are responsible for keeping access to your sign-in method secure. Dearlie is designed for a private, one-to-one pairing between two people. You agree to pair only with someone who consents to receive your notes.
4. Subscriptions, billing, and renewals
Dearlie offers an optional premium subscription. The core experience — sending and receiving notes and the Jar — includes features that are always free; some additional features require a subscription.
- Plans: Monthly (US$4.99), Annual (US$29.99, which may include a free trial), and a one-time Lifetime purchase (US$59.99). Prices may vary by region and are shown in the app before purchase.
- Payment: Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
- Auto-renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Free trial: If a plan includes a free trial, any unused portion of the trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where applicable.
- Managing or canceling: You can manage or cancel your subscription, and turn off auto-renewal, in your Apple ID Account Settings after purchase.
- Refunds: Purchases are processed by Apple. Refund requests are handled by Apple under its terms; we generally cannot issue refunds directly.
Use of the App Store and in-app purchases is also subject to Apple's standard licensed application end user license agreement, available at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula.
5. Your content
The notes you create are yours. You keep all rights to them. You grant us a limited license to store, process, render (for example, turning a drawing into an image), transmit, and display your notes solely to operate the service for you and your partner. We do not use your notes for advertising and we do not sell them.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Dearlie to send content that is unlawful, harassing, abusive, or that infringes someone else's rights, and not to misuse, disrupt, reverse-engineer, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service. Because notes are private between two consenting partners, you are responsible for the content you send.
7. The Jar
The Jar is your archive of notes and is intended to be a permanent keepsake that is never paywalled. We aim to preserve it for as long as your account is active, but we do not guarantee perpetual storage and you should not rely on Dearlie as your sole record of important content.
8. Termination
You may stop using Dearlie and delete your account at any time (see Delete Your Account). We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the service or other users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply.
9. Disclaimers
Dearlie is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every note will always be delivered.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Dearlie will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of or related to your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore, except where prohibited by applicable law.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date and, for significant changes, provide notice in the app. Continuing to use Dearlie after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
